Chick-Fil-A Park: #BestJobEver

Emma

I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve at Chick-fil-A Park Boulevard and Plano Parkway for a little over a year. While it works to accomplish the underlying goal of any fast-food restaurant, providing a hot meal at a quick pace, its commitment to going the extra mile in its care is what makes it truly one-of-a-kind.

It is scary stepping into any new place, especially an unknown work environment, but the entire Chick-fil-A staff ensured I felt welcome from the very beginning. At each twist and turn, there was always someone to guide me and quickly cure any qualm. There was never shame in asking for help but rather a kind face eager to help and encourage, coming from workers in both the front and kitchen alike. The care shown to me guaranteed that I was ready and able to fulfill my duties of taking orders, aiding customers with issues, cleaning, and packaging/delivering orders well and with ease. The training prepared me so well that I am now a trainer and hopefully able to be a similar guide for new hires!

In addition to seeing growth within the work setting, I have also noticed changes on a more personal basis. During past years I would have considered myself quiet and slightly timid, but the time spent in this environment where I am constantly meeting new people has forced me out of my shell in the best ways possible. Continually interacting with coworkers, ensuring that trainees feel secure in their work, and speaking to hundreds of customers each week has granted me new abilities to find common ground with strangers and feel comfortable communicating at the drop of a hat. While these changes may only have been noticeable to those closest to me, they have improved my life immensely and are greatly valued.

Although I will be taking a short break from working here as I head off to Texas A&M University, my time at Chick-fil-A has shaped me in more ways than I could have imagined and I will carry this experience with me through college and beyond.
